Another change I made, was by using a ribbon to make the adjustable neck strap instead of making it out of the fabric. I just used a ribbon that was tied around a baby blanket I received at a baby shower. So I didn't even have to buy it! All these little things add up and help make this nursing cover just that more inexpensive.
To make this one, I did everything the same in my previous post up until I went to sew the seam across the top. I measured out to find the middle (16 1/2" on this one) and make a slight mark on the fabric. I then began to stitch the seam and stitched until I was a few inches past the mark. As you can see in this picture, my finger is pointing out the middle and the light mark I made and I stopped sewing a few inches past.
I then inserted the boning wire in the seam and finished sewing the top seam.
After the top seam was complete, I re-centered the boning wire and made a vertical stitch on the seam to prevent the wire from sliding around.
Again, I made the adjustable neck strap the exact same way as last time. I just simply used ribbon instead of making a strap from the fabric. I saved a lot of time when making this one by using the ribbon. I stitched the ribbon to the nursing cover just a few inches on each side of the boning wire.
Voila! A super quick, inexpensive nursing cover!!
